Family Legacy
Nestled just outside the charming village of Agia Marina, the olive tree grove tells a story of tradition and love for the land. Planted over 100 years ago by my grandmother's family, my grandfather and namesake, Spiros, received the grove as a dowry when they were married. This grove of approximately 350 Koroneiki olive trees has been a cornerstone of the family’s heritage, producing some of the finest extra virgin olive oil in the northwest region of Crete. It's no coincidence, the Olive Tree of Vouves, estimated to be 4,000 years old and the oldest olive tree, is only a few kilometers away.
My grandfather poured his heart into nurturing these trees, creating olive oil that became a local treasure. Always generous, he gave his olive oil away to those in need during WWII. For decades, the grove flourished under his care.
In 2018, I proudly bottled my first harvest, crafted with the same dedication and attention to detail that my grandfather taught me.
Being deeply committed to quality, the olives are hand-picked just a few weeks earlier than most, ensuring exceptionally low acidity and high levels of polyphenols—the powerful antioxidants that contribute to heart health and enhance the vibrant flavor of our oil. Depending on the harvest year, the grove yields between 400 kg to 2 metric tons of olive oil. From tending to the trees to bottling these small batches, I follow all traditional steps to ensure the quality of the extra virgin olive oil.
Every bottle of olive oil carries the legacy of the grove, the dedication to family, and the spirit of Crete. From the grove to your table, I invite you to share in the tradition and taste of our family’s journey.
